Living Collection: The Music of Luke Styles

Get ready for an inspiring evening! On Wednesday 12 November 2025, the National Library of Australia presents Living Collection: The Music of Luke Styles, a special event showcasing the works of renowned composer Luke Styles.

Our very own Canberra Children’s Choir will feature as part of the program alongside chamber ensembles and vocal performances in what promises to be an evening of rich, evocative music and dialogue. Entry is free (bookings essential) and you can participate either in-person or via livestream.

Our Junior Voices are thrilled to be part of Red Dirt Hymns - a powerful new work by Australian composer Andrew Ford, celebrating the spirit, stories, and landscapes of regional Australia.

This vibrant choral event brings together community and youth choirs from across Canberra in a joyful celebration of song and connection. We can’t wait to see our young singers shine on stage as part of this special collaboration!

Mixed Abilities Program

Weekly music sessions for adults with disability - sing, dance, play, and create together in a fun, inclusive space led by experienced musicians and music therapists. Build confidence, make friends, and enjoy the joy of music every week!

Children’s Concert - Apeiron Baroque: The Ellery String Quartet Sunday 2 November 3pm

Join us for a relaxed, informal pre-concert event designed especially for young music-lovers and families. In just 30 minutes, you’ll enjoy live music and a fun “instrument show-and-tell”, perfect for curious ears and active little ones.

Our very own Brad Tham – violinist, chamber-musician and Music for Canberra staff member – appears as a guest artist alongside Anika Chan (violin), Pippa Newman (viola) and Chloe Law (cello) as part of the vibrant Ellery Quartet.

Kompactus Youth Choir - A Calendar of Light
Saturday 29 November 7pm

Step beyond time with Kompactus in A Calendar of Light, where music becomes a mirror to change, loss, and renewal.

In this 24-movement journey - woven with Barbara Crooker’s probing poetry - Dale Trumbore invites the listener to witness shifting seasons not only in nature, but within our hearts and actions. Six call-and-response movements welcome the audience into the unfolding cycle, while glimpses of climate, memory, and small transformations thread the path forward.

In its Australian premiere, this immersive work asks: How do we plant change? How can we hold light, even when darkness presses? - and offers, in song, a kind of answer.
